Thanks man! I LUUUURVE my M50 swap! I HIGHLY recommend doing some of the other stuff, too: E36 steering rack, 3.73LSD, E36 M3 shifter. WORLD of difference!

So, my car had a bad vibration that I was pretty sure was the brakes, so I rebuilt the front calipers today. The guide pins on the drivers' side were really cruddy, and the passenger side rotor was toast. Luckily, I had a new one waiting to go on.

While I was at it, I replaced the front brake lines with stainless lines.

No more shuddering, and nice braking now!

The other issue I have is that my M50 seems to be running a little warmer than I'd like. I figured out a few days ago that the Aux fan wasn't working at all (even with the 'snowflake' button pressed), so I bought a Spal fan. I haven't received the mounting kit for it yet, so I took the Aux fan off of the project track car and wired it up. I think I still need to do one more coolant bleeding session, but the fan did help. The Spal fan should move a LOT more air when I install it.

I was hoping to make the H20 Mustache Ride tonight, but the car stuff took, well, pretty much all day!

        Ah well, more updates tomorrow!!

I should be down there around 1:30 to work on my (lack of) photographic skills.

You'll be SOOO happy when you finish your build! I just want to drive and drive and drive!!!!! The selector rod mod is easy, too.

Not going to be much of one today, except to say that the fan seems to be doing it's job, and the brakes are fine now! I may bleed them a bit more, as I'dlike the pedal feel to be slightly firmer, but they're working fine.

Heh! You can if you want to, but it's really a pretty simple mod! Heck,my car's so much fun to drive, maybe I'll just drive up to Chicago and help you!

Just went to the garage to confirm: it's a 7/16"

                          Dnick,

I used a 7/16"lag bolt (no head, just threaded bar); it was 6" in length, and I lopped about an inch off of it. Added 2 nuts to secure it in place once I figured out the right length and angle, then took it to a local exhaust shop, and they welded it in place for a whopping $7.50. :D

Can't say 100% sure that the fan is wired up and working. But he was at my autox event with the car so I assumed when he brought it out to the event that it was done and all buttoned up
